Miscaellany Finds is a hands-on social enterprise that provides hard to place women with basic back to work skills through on the job training programs in their retail thrift store. All profits from the store help to further their social mission and are put towards programming costs.
Early in August, prior to the co-founder Hawa Mire, arriving in East Africa to provide free technical media training, Miscellany Finds generously donated over 15 film cameras to PYM programming. This equipment provides much needed access for many youth under the age of 18 and is left behind as a direct donation to the Amagezi Gemaanyi Youth Association so youth leaders can continue developing their skills.
FIlm photography is still a great method of media arts training as the facilities to develop film are still readily available in Uganda. Youth learn the basics of photography including light and composition and then move to digital cameras as they become more available.
